That's A Plenty
A uptempo dixieland favorite.
Maffick comes from the 1899 to 1900 siege of Mafeking, South Africa as part of the second Boer War. The British troops were outnumbered and trapped in the besieged city for 217 days until reinforcements arrived from England. When the siege was finally over, there were immense celebrations in England creating the verb "To Maffick" meaning to celebrate both extravagantly and publicly. This composition was originally for middle school concert band. This recording is for saxophone quartet.
